Hi all,
I'm sure we are all going nuts with the new blog posts, the game play footage was especially good..
however being a mage orientated fellow in games where mages are possible, I was not pleased with the way the book/spell casting went down in the video, hear me out...
It looked too overly animated for a simple projectile spell shot:
1-book opens
2- pages flap around
3-hand gesture
4-projectile flies
5-book closes
that is just too much animation clutter on the screen
my suggestion!!!
1- book remains open while floating just above the casters right hand with the spell page displaying the proper spell
2- the hand remains in an idle casting position until the player casts
3- player casts and the hand does a casting gesture that is not too convoluted or lengthy
spell book stays relatively (stable) and the casting hand as well.
I have a nice example (from a great game called Hexen2)
idle state
casting state
anyways just my 2 cents
