Economy system in Hytale
Hello everyone, I’m back for another blog post again! And this time it will be speculating about an economy system in Hytale or the ways mods/plugins could implement it if it’s not in the vanilla game
To start out this blog post we again need to look towards Minecraft to be able to get a sense of what is in the cards for Hytale, because as far as I’m aware there has been no news for an economy of sorts
Minecraft while not having a fully-fledged economy system in its original state did have a “primitive” form of trading with villagers by trading expensive crystals and trading goods like emeralds or potatoes for items with villagers and wandering traders. Those villagers and traders have a progression system in the form of “career levels” which can be increased by trading regularly and will dictate what kind of wares they trade. Alongside these career levels there are certain professions that determine the wares as well, these professions will be kept forever after they’ve traded for the first time but if they have not traded anything the profession can change if their claimed job site block were to be removed from the game.
Now onto the interesting stuff with community-made economy servers in Minecraft.
The main feature of these servers is to earn as much money as you can. Money can be earned the old-fashioned way with blood sweat and tears with mining, or for example getting super lucky in some servers that include gambling and win it big in the in-game casinos. Some servers allow you to buy a plot of land and put your very own shop on that plot of land and trade your wares like a boss! Basically any way you see fit to become the richest player in the known universe of your server.
So far for the history lesson on Minecraft its way of having an economy now onto the speculation
My best bet on an economy system in Hytale would be a system that is realistically heavily inspired by Minecraft its economy system but that’s not necessarily a bad thing, I’d be sure that it would be upgraded in some way or another. The question is how though? Well my guess would be that these economy servers would not be left to be developed by the community but will be either built-in from the start or in an update not too far after release seeing as Hytale’s whole shtick is how community driven Hypixel studios is. Ofcourse optimized in the ways Minecraft’s system was flawed.
Maybe the addition of skinning could be a way of gaining a currency by selling the hides to a butcher NPC to invent some variation aside of mining, We’ll know all these things when Hytale releases but I’m sure it will be done well!
Hope you had a nice read out of this one and let me know if you think anything differently in the comments below
