Hi everyone!

I know this topic has practically been beaten to death, but I'd still like to share my personal thoughts about how the eventual beta and release of Hytale will play out, as most predictions haven't been that in depth. I'll share 3 timelines that I think are possible for the future of the game, a Best Case Scenario, Most Likely Scenario, and Worst Case Scenario.

The Best Case Scenario is the most optimistic timeline that I personally think is reasonable, outside of the game being fully released tomorrow.
The Most Likely Scenario is what I think is the most likely timeline that we will see, based on everything we know so far.
The Worst Case Scenario is probably the worst timeline I think could reasonably happen outside of the game being straight up cancelled.

Keep in mind this is all for a bit of fun and shouldn't be taken very seriously. Let's get started!

Best Case Scenario

- Postcards continue as they normally do until early June 2021, when during E3 2021, the Hytale team drops a beta announcement trailer, showing brand new gameplay and giving a beta date for September 2021.

- The trailer coincides with 2 new blogposts, an updated FAQ for players and creators alike, and a development update discussing the future timeline for Hytale's beta and release.

- Over the next few months leading up to the beta, blogposts are released every week detailing the games features, including a combat blogpost and blogposts going in depth on server tech and modding tools, among many others.

- In July 2021, Hypixel releases the name reservation and creator programs.

- In September 2021, the beta for Hytale is released to anyone who signed up over the past few years on Hytale's website. YouTubers and players alike love the game, and it reaches massive popularity almost immediately.

- In November 2021, Hytale is fully released to universal critical acclaim, and the game sells 10 million copies within the first month.

- In December 2021, Hytale is awarded Game Of The Year at the Game Awards 2021.

- In January 2022, Hytale gets a new update with loads of new features, cosmetics, and more, while the game is booming. Hytale merchandise is already available in many stores.

- In November 2022, the first Hycon takes place in Northern Ireland, with the game now reaching 30 million sales.

- By 2026, Hytale overtakes Minecraft as the best selling video game of all time, reaching 300 million sales. It's also regarded as one of the greatest games of the decade.

Most Likely Scenario

- Postcards continue as normal until late July 2021, when Hypixel announces the return of blogposts, starting with a blogpost discussing the games development. The dev team says that they're confident they'll be able to release a beta by the end of 2021, and a full release by summer of 2022. No exact dates are given, however.

- In September 2021, a new trailer is released and concrete release dates are given at the end: A beta in November 2021 and a full release in June 2022. A new FAQ blogpost coincides with it, detailing many things about the games development.

- 2 blogposts are released every month detailing the games features, in a similar way as I described in the Best Case Scenario.

- The name reservation and creator programs release in October 2021.

- The beta releases on it's expected date in 2021 to decent success, gaining 10 million players by the end of the year.

- Hytale's full release in June 2022 occurs on its expected date, with players, creators, and critics enjoying the game.

- An update is released in August 2022, adding more features and cosmetics. A thriving community has now formed around the game.

- Hytale is nominated for Game Of The Year at the Game Awards in 2022, but does not win.

- By 2023, Hytale has sold 20 million copies, and while Minecraft is still far ahead, Hytale continues to be relevant for a good few more years.

Worst Case Scenario

- Postcards continue as normal until July of 2021, when they unexpectedly start releasing postcards only once a month instead of once a week. All of the devs are radio silent on this and almost no new information is shown except for the monthly postcards.

- These monthly postcards continue throughout the rest of the year, causing many in the community to give up on Hytale and focus on other games instead. Kweebec Corner is renamed to Enderman Corner, Hytale News is renamed to Minecraft News.

- Most have forgotten about the game at this point, but in January 2022, a new blogpost is released, with the dev team apologizing for the lack of communication. They plan a beta in summer of 2022 and a full release in early 2023. Monthly blogposts return.

- The community is now a tenth the size it was in 2019, and Hytale practically fades into obscurity. The beta and release launch to little fanfare, as most have already forgotten about the game. The beta is slow and buggy, and half of the planned features never make it into the final product.

- The game only sells 50,000 copies by the end of 2023. Hytale isn't considered for the Game Awards, no conventions are made, but a small community remains out of this game that once had great potential, but has since faded into obscurity. People talk about it ending up as yet another Cyberpunk or Half Life 3 (long story).

Wow! What a theory! I think all 3 of them are possibilities. But the most likely I think is the general community consensus.

Thanks!
What would you say the consensus is? I've heard beta predictions ranging from July this year to late 2022

I would like to agree with everyone saying that Hytale is coming out this summer. I believe that is the general consensus.

I think Historically the consensus was always 3-4 months until big news. People are reasonable enough to realize it's not happening tomorrow, but usually hopeful enough that it is right around the corner. I think that applies at this time as well. I think beta will release mid-early fall. If the team is behind a bit since their initial predictions this would land them around there.

Well it seems like my Worst Case Scenario wasn't bad enough... 2023 at the earliest... man... how is it taking so long? The trailer back in 2018 made it seem almost complete...

Well, speaking from a bit of experience from just starting game developing. Usually there is a lot of reworking already "working" systems. Especially ones that are just barely held together and might generate problems in the future. They say that they are aware and are fighting against it, but honestly this announcement is just proof that they lost the war against it.
