Today I'd like to personally clear the air in regards to some recent gossip, and address a few concerns that have been on some people's minds lately.
This thread is going to be made in a Q & A style format, addressing some of the most commonly asked questions recently.
Q1: Why did you create Hytale Hub?
A1: We created Hytale Hub to give the Hytale Community its own sanctuary - a place totally unique to them. A community this large and this active, for a game as promising as Hytale deserves more than to be forced to confine itself to third party platforms such as Twitter and Reddit.
Q2: Why do you offer Premium Ranks?
A2: At Hytale Hub, we are unique in the sense that unlike virtually every other major Gaming Forums website, we have not monetized our site with Google ads. This is because we are determined not to let a desire for profit hinder our users' experiences. To compensate for this, we offer 100% optional cosmetic-based packages for users who want to make it easier for us to keep Hytale Hub afloat. At the end of the day, websites of this scale do cost a lot of money to run. It's because of generous purchases from our users that all of this is made possible.
Q3: Why do you own so many Hytale-related domains?
A3: Shortly after the Hytale announcement trailer, we did in fact purchase numerous Hytale related domains. We did this firstly because we intend on developing many of these domains into full-fledged sites, and secondly in order to protect the competitive interests of these sites. With that said, at the end of the day, the overall success of Hytale as a game and as a community is infinitely more important to us than any single domain. We are 110% open to giving the Hytale/Hypixel Studios Staff priority on any of our domains if they believe it to be in their best interests for us to do so.
Q4: Are any of your other websites monetized?
A4: As of right now, not a single one of our affiliated websites are monetized in any way whatsoever. We built each one of them 100% on our own dime for the community's enjoyment. We have an extensive team of roughly 50 individuals that enjoy creating these projects for the Hytale community, and we aren't looking to "get rich" off of any of this. Any extra revenue generated by Hytale Hub is funneled directly back into HH, or used to jump start the development of brand new Hytale related websites.
Q5: Does Hytale Hub "Sell Mods"?
A5: This is a very bizarre rumor that started around a month ago, and the answer is no. We don't "sell mods". The only merchandise on our website that is directly sold by us are our 100% optional, 100% cosmetic based Premium packages. We do offer a Resources section where developers can upload/share/sell their work. This work can include plugins, or "mods" as they will be called in Hytale. We do not profit from this however.
Q6: How is user data stored at Hytale Hub?
A6: We encrypt every user's IP and password with 128 bit AES encryption. All IPs are also displayed only in IPv6 form. So while all IPs are logged, this means that they are encrypted to such a degree that even in the event of a breach, they would yield no results. Per our terms of service, we've also opted out from selling user data to any advertisement companies like websites such as Discord and Facebook do. Hytale Hub is uniquely special in this way as we go to great lengths to prioritize the integrity of our website and the safety of our community above everything else. You can view our official privacy policy here, which guarantees that your data is 100% safe and is never shared with any other companies or advertisers.
Q7: Will Hytale Hub have its own Hytale server?
A7: Yes! We intend to release a fully custom, all-inclusive public gameserver for Hytale as soon as Beta releases. We will disclose further details on this as Hytale gets closer to releasing. Premium ranks purchased on our website will transfer over to our gameserver as well. When you purchase a rank at Hytale Hub, you're not just purchasing a rank for a Fan Forums website.
